Near Aspen, Colorado (map), 2003
Photograph by Taylor Kennedy

A stand of aspen trees grows outside the Colorado resort named after them.

Though aspens do reproduce by seed, cloning is the predominant means of reproduction, with sprouts called suckers growing from the roots of a parent tree to form saplings.
